Derek Rodstrom has been practicing law since 1996. His education includes a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Taxation from Case Western Reserve University; a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law; and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Ohio Northern University.  He is admitted to the practice law in the State of Ohio, and admitted to the United States Tax Court. He is also an Accredited Veterans Administration Attorney and a member of WealthCounsel, LLC.

Since 1996 his law practice has been primarily estate and tax planning, elder law, probate and designing strategies for asset protection.  In 2009 he was recognized as an Ohio Rising Star by Superlawyers.

He has lectured and written extensively on various legal topics. He presented Estate Planning for Widows and Widowers and Basic Estate Planning for the Southwest General Health Center Estate Planning Series in 2008 and 2009. He coauthored and presented various continuing education seminars for attorneys, certified public accountants, certified financial planners and registered insurance representatives for Lorman Education Services. Some of the courses he has authored and taught are Accounting for Estates and Trusts, Advanced Tax Planning in Ohio: Planning for High Income Individuals and A Primer on S-Corporations in Ohio. He also authored the article Funding: Opportunity or Profit Killer? The WealthCounsel Quarterly, Volume 3, No. 2

Mr. Rodstrom volunteers for Junior Achievement: teaching basic financial concepts to high school students and is a member of New Hope Reformed Church.  He lives in Fairview Park, Ohio with his wife Marie and their 3 sons.
